	現在最もポケットビリヤードが普及しているアメリカには、1565年 スペイン人によってフロリダに、初めて伝えられたといわれています。 そして南北戦争の直前に大流行し、1859年4月、初めてデトロイトで 15、000ドルの賞金のついたナショナル選手権大会が開催されました。 歴代大統領で、ワシントンやジェファーソン、中でも特にリンカーンは ホワイトハウスのプールルームでゲームに熱中したそうです。
	Spaniard introduced billiards to Florida for the first time in 1565. It became into vogue right before the Civil War, and national tournament with a prize $15,000 was at last held in April 1859. Especially Abraham Lincoln was the most enthusiastic in the White House Poolroom among the successive Presidents of USA.

ＪＡＰＡＮ

	19世紀の江戸時代、日本にもオランダから長崎の出島にキャロムゲーム （四つ玉・三つ玉）が伝えられました。ポケットビリヤードは、1900年代の 初期にアメリカから入り、京都を中心に広まったそうです。
	Cannon game (Carom) was introduced to Nagasaki by Netherlander in the 19th c, and pocket table was imported from USA in the beginning of the 20th.c.
